Hello Monday. I'm greeting you with a freshly painted front door. It finally happened... the goodness of mint is covering my entryway. I hope to snap some pics today so that I can show the big reveal sometime this week. In the meantime, here are some amazing painted doors that show just why I feel in love with greeting guests in color!
I rest my case. Color glorious color! Hope this brightens your Monday after the long holiday weekend. xo

Mint to Be
Thursday, May 15, 2014
The hubs and I shot the interior of this amazing Dallas home the other day that stopped me dead in my tracks with it's heavenly aroma. Sueded Tobacco from Aspen Bay's Reserve collection is the scent and the container has this beautiful dusty green luster. So good.
These dining room chairs seen on a House in the Hills. Drooling. They add just the right pop of color in the midst of all that natural wood and stunning white. Don't you think?
Now matter how hot it gets, I'm not giving up my coffee. This mint recipe from How Sweet It Is seems like the perfect refreshing summer drink. It's like Summer's version of Hot Cocoa.
And if all of that isn't enough to make you swoon, Kirsten of Simply Grove has to go and paint her side table the perfect shade of minty green to brighten things up. I love the contrast with her neutral palette and gold and black blanket.
Are you in love yet? I could have gone on and added desks, chairs and Jenna Lyon's silky green pants into the mix but I don't want you all thinking I've lost my marbles over a color. But... maybe I have. I feel like that little emoji that has the big goofy grin with the hearts for eyes. Yeah, that's me and mint. How about you? What are you loving right now? xo

Peachy Keen
Tuesday, March 25, 2014
I've been doing a little color research for a new project that I can't wait to tell you guys about. For now it's hush-hush. In the meantime, I wanted to share a color palette that I am absolutely bonkers over right now... peach, cream and slate blue, with a side of minty green. Seriously drool-y no? It's like fresh drops a Spring on an otherwise dismal day. So calming and fresh at the same time.
What colors have your heart purring right now? xo

print | colorful cushions (source unknown)
Saturday in Dallas we enjoyed an 80 degree sunny day. The day before that it was in the high 70's. And now schools are cancelled again due to ice and I'm forced to don my fake fur vests once more. Oh Spring, wherefore art thou Spring? Give me blushed cheeks, floral cushions, buds in vases and color galore. Amen? xo
Neapolitan - A Dose of Yum and A Desire for Spring
Thursday, February 20, 2014
Ever since Valentine's Day, I've got ice cream fever. I think it all started with my pre-valentine celebration warm-up of Blue Bell's I "heart" Chocolate and Homemade Vanilla with Strawberries. Seriously, I think I've eaten at lease 4 gallons of ice cream since V-Day. Dang it. I'm supposed to be getting in shape for Spring... not increasing my waist size (and my dimples). Whatever. Here's proof that I've gone strawberry, chocolate and vanilla crazy. It's everywhere...
1|where it all started. 2|even in my packaging. 3|cones
See what I mean? It's over. I'm definitely gaining 20 pounds. Either that or I'm gonna live in a gallon of ice cream inspired decor. xo

Blue. Blue. Blue. Not that I had a bad weekend, it was actually great. We got loads done. (Thank you community group of wonderful angels.) I just can't get my navy blue bedroom walls out of my head. They are dead sexy. Let me say it again, Dead. Sexy. Even the hubs has come around - saying, and I quote, "You did a good job on the walls babe. Nice." Uh - huh. That friends is a major win. Now I am once again on the carpet hunt. I have a feeling it will be a while before I get to purchase anything for this room, but a girl can dream and scheme. Right?
Hello pretty, creamy neutrals that make me dream of all things cozy. Pretty sure my capiz light hanging will have to go in our bedroom for a nice warm glow. I'm gonna love mixing things around and re-appropriating pieces. This. Is. Getting. Exciting.
How about you? What makes you dream of all things cozy? xo
Color Wheel

Red: the color my eyes turn after being in front of the computer too long.
Green: the color I can become after too much time on Pinterest.
Blue: my mood when I get it wrong with my littles.
Yellow: the shade I turn when walking past the meat section in the grocery.
Orange: the color of my hair and skin in middle school. Put away the peroxide!
White: me in the winter.

Around the House: Random Bits of Color
Monday, April 11, 2011
One of my favorite things about having 2 little monkeys running my house is that I never know what I'll find. It makes for delightful and completely random discoveries...daily. Over the past week I have found:
paint chips (my oldest is ready to paint his room again)
"rainbow clippings" *please note that no actual rainbows were injured in the making.
naked crayons stripped by my youngest
balloon balls
silly band clumps
Happy Monday peeps! I hope your day is filled with color and surprise treasures. It's the only way to survive the Mondays. xo
Around the House: Colorful Hues

You might not always know it by looking at my very neutral wardrobe, but I love color! Every single hue. I'm so glad Spring is finally here so that I can truly enjoy the many colors of His creations. Here are some colorful favorites I've stumbled upon recently.
Go grab some color! It's the perfect time to bring some home! xo
Around the House (and Studio): with Barb of Knack!
Monday, February 28, 2011
Hello lovely Pure and Noble Readers! I'm so thrilled to be here on Brooke's blog today! I'm Barb Blair, I live in Greenville, SC and about three years ago I started Knack where I find, repair, and redeem furniture for a living....and to be honest whatever else I can get my hands on! I love creating in my studio.
BB: Hmmmm this is a trick question I think!! I am a DIY when I want to be kind of girl, but would not classify myself as a hardcore DIYer. Does that make sense! I enjoy every aspect of transforming the furniture that I create and part of that is DIY but the design and then the painting are what I enjoy the most. Painting for me is very soothing and I get lost in my own little world when I paint.
BB: Oh my! This is like having to say which child you love more! I always think the latest piece I have finished is my favorite... until I create another one! If I have to choose though, I really enjoy the wallpaper pieces ....like the ones I have done for American Eagle and Southern Living. They are challenging and design intensive, but I am completely smitten with them in the end.
BB: People tell me that I am really organized for an artist, but I don't know....as the business grows and the responsibilities get larger, I find myself missing things. I am a list maker and I do like to check things off , so I guess that makes me a big fat nerd! It is really important to me though to be punctual and professional in all of my projects and dealings with clients.
BB: I want to build and design furniture. It is next on my list....in fact my first piece is in the works right now, but I am not building it. I'm just testing the design waters if you will. I would love to be able to put all of my tools to good use one of these days and build some crazy, nutty furniture!
BB: I am completely self taught and have loved every minute of learning my trade!
BB: I started painting about 10 years ago when we moved into our current home. It is a seventies ranch that needed lots of cosmetic work and so I decided to save some dollars and paint all of the existing cabinets myself. The kitchen cabinets were the first painting project for me , and after they were completed I was hooked. It was hard work and took me about a month, but the transformation was so fun and rewarding I couldn't wait to do more!
PN: Where can people find your work?
BB: My work can be found online in my etsy shop and locally at Antiques on Augusta and Knack. If you visit my website, all of the information you need for directions to both places is there.
BB: My biggest sources for inspiration are photography and nature. I love to photo document my surroundings especially during travel, and the colors and textures that come through really inspire a lot of my work. I also love to have a weekly date at Barnes and Noble for some good magazine and design book time.
PN: Are there any unlikely color combinations that you fancy?
BB: I love all kinds of crazy color combinations like turquoise and red, mustard and pink, but one of my all time favorites is a dark olive green with a beautiful lavender. I need to do that one again soon.
BB: I am a hunter and a gatherer finding my pieces at goodwill stores, estate sales, auctions, and antique stores.....
PN: How long have you lived in your current house?
BB: 10 years...going on 11
BB: Our house had been empty for a bout a year and not well taken care of before that, so we had lots of cleaning to do and spent the first month painting every single wall, tearing down wallpaper, new hardwood floors, new carpet, and I actually tiled my mudroom floor.
PN: What's next?
BB: The bathrooms have been calling out for a while, just need to take the plunge! hah! Oh, and all new windows and doors are in order as well, hopefully before next winter!
BB: I am not a "rearranger". I tend to get things where I like them, or where they work best for the room they are in and then start filling in with all of the good stuff like artwork collections, etc.
PN: How many pieces have you worked on for the shop that have ended up going home with you?
BB: There have only been a couple that I actually painted to sell only to end up in my house...like my fabulous orange hutch......but there are lots of pieces that I have come across on my travels both painted and unpainted that have found a place in my home!
PN: Are you a thrifter, scavenger or collector?
BB: I'm all three sista! I call this the tri fecta
BB: vintage pyrex
fiesta ware
local artwork
design books
PN: What started your love of the above?
BB: I have to give my mom credit for my love of colorful dishes and interesting serving pieces. My mom always had a beautiful table set and loved finding just the right dish to serve with. The books and artwork have just evolved over time .
BB: As far as the furniture goes, I find it at all of the places listed above, but for the home accessories and finds....etsy is a big shopping place for me! I love all of the unique finds for the home and the amazing artwork available there.
PN: What's the farthest you've traveled to pick up a vintage find?
BB: I think North Carolina at this point......
PN: Is there anything you're on a constant hunt to find?
BB: Constantly on the hunt for great wallpaper and hardware details for my pieces....and I never pass up a good chest of drawers.
BB: Apartment Therapy book, anthropologie candle, and a little handmade sketchbook so I can document all of my crazy ideas in the middle of the night!
PN: What's your design moto?
BB: Surround yourself with only the things you love.
BB: I am a weirdo when it comes to music while working. Sometimes I enjoy the quiet thought in my head that painting brings on and music can get in the way of that. But I do love music, especially with positive and uplifting lyrics so I play Jack Johnson, Ingrid, Colby C, Kutless, Tenth Avenue North, The Afters, David Crowder......and then if I need to put a little zip in my step while cleaning the studio; a little R&B like Lecrae helps get my tush moving!
I know... one word describes Miss Barb... Uh-Mazing! Happy Monday sweet readers! What's one thing you want to learn to do? xo
