Shopping, I have to admit, is one a my favorite things to do. But, NEVER in a mall and NEVER with my kiddos. Shopping is done best at flea markets with ones closest girlfriends. This past Wednesday I got the chance to scour rows and rows of delightfully delicious vintage goodies with my sixteen year old sister. It was so fun to sort through all the unique treasures while giggling endlessly as she tried on hat after hat asking, "why can't we wear these things anymore?" I couldn't agree more, but I digress. We had a mission - find bottles and jars for her latest room transformation. (It's changed at least 3-4 times in the past few years - paint color and all.)
No don't go thinking that just because she's sixteen we're talkin' pink, butterflies, Justin Bieber and other scary teen beat fads. This girl's got style, loads of style. For her room inspiration she shows me various scenes from
Man Shops Globe, the sneak peek of Sibella Court's home on
Design Sponge and
The Society Inc. One word. Uh-maz-ing!
As with any room makeover, we have our challenges: limited funds (she works at
Dairy Queen), a small space and a
Dad who doesn't like holes in the walls or clutter. Oh, and let's not forget, the space has to function well for late night homework and facebook updates. We still have a few things to find and add, but we're getting there. Let's face it, Rome wasn't built in a day and the collections above weren't either. Stay tuned, I'll be posting a few images later today of our progress. xo
