The other day Kim sent me a pic of a mobile she liked and it got me to thinking and shopping. Boy, there are some really cute mobiles out there.
While we're on the topic. I have a couple of questions.
1 - do babies really only see black and white?
2 - why do we make mobiles that look pretty to us? I mean, have you ever laid under one? Unless they're pointing down, it's a pretty dull show for the littles. Just sayin. xo
I love the hot air balloon one! I've often thought that babies probably wouldn't be able to see much from their vantage point too :) I guess once their sight develops the bright colours would be more appealing but in those initial few months I guess not! :)
ReplyDeleteYou reflected my thoughts as I looked at them - what's in it for the babies? Some of these are so lovely why wouldn't I use them for decor elsewhere in the house! But what does the baby need/enjoy? I'm with Kim - love the birds.
ReplyDeleteBabies can see contrast between colors well when they are little, so the black and white is the best contrasting combination. But other bright colors are good for stimulating brain development too. I agree that mobiles need to be more directed at the baby, like facing down toward them. I have mobiles that turn and make music and both of my kids seemed to be engaged by them. ;)
