I've been thinking about this blog thing a lot lately. Do I really want to continue even if I don't know if anyone is reading this thing? Is my blog any different from the countless others out there that I visit on a regular basis? And if not, why is mine necessary? I could take the somewhat selfish route and say,"I am doing this for myself as a creative outlet!" Or, I could own up to the fact that I really do want to provide something for others while I feed my creative craving AND I want viewers/readers - I do!
Over the holidays, some of our family from Iowa was visiting and we watched the movie Julie and Julia. Honestly, I didn't expect to like it quite as much as I did. (I think my husband even enjoyed it!) It got me thinking about my blog, the other blogs that I visit, why I like them and what I like about mine. I have to say, I don't like much about Pure and Noble right now except for the fact that I enjoy writing it and tapping into my creativity a bit. So, Pure and Noble is being overhauled for 2010.
Before I decided to be a stay at home Mom, I worked in Marketing, Product Development and Fashion Design. Since becoming a Mom I have done some sewing here and there, but not as much as I would like. That all began to change this past Christmas (2009) as I prayed to God asking Him to make me a doer vs. a looker. I began making a lot of gifts and home decor. And you know what? I really enjoyed it! So I thought I would bring this new found excitement to my blog. Many of my favorite blogs have DIY projects and I have purchased the books below to begin my crafty journey. I am going to attempt to make various projects within these books and those found on various blogs and report my successes and failures.
My goal is to begin doing again and reporting honestly on how things turn out. Was the project easy or hard? What was challenging? Was it time consuming? Etc. As for the honesty part, let me share a bit of that right now... I enjoy sewing. I love creating. I love colors. And, I love to decorate, both my home and my person. Here's where the honesty part comes in - I don't do all of these things so well. I try, and I think that counts for something. But, I am a far cry from being really good at sewing and making things. The blogs I view daily have really opened my eyes to just how many amazingly creative women there are out there. So, cheers to all you crafty ladies and to a New Year with new beginnings!
I'm glad you decided to keep on sharing your finds and ideas so new ones (like me!) can jump onboard! Best of luck with the creativity projects :)
