Beautiful Nails... In Minutes.

Tuesday, November 26, 2013

As the holidays quickly approach - hello Thursday! - and we rush about to get things cooked, cleaned and make ourselves presentable, the nails usually get the shaft. Well, they do for this Momma. Who has time to wait for polish to dry? Ain't nobody got time for that... I honestly think that's what keeps me from painting them most of the time - well, that and the chipping from loads of dish washing and laundry. But lately I've been so compelled to add a little color to my tips, especially after seeing these inspiring images over at A Cup of Jo...

oxblood red... i die.
How can you not paint your nails after seeing these inspiring images? Stunning right? I set out to find some polish that fit my personal criteria - inexpensive, good color and dries fast. The trifecta. Y'all, I found it. For just two bucks a bottle, NYC (New York Color) delivers. Big time.
My favorite colors for Fall and Winter are Manhattan (oxblood red - above) and Sidewalkers (grey). Park Ave is pretty amazing too. And they dry in quite literally a New York minute. I can paint my nails, type a quick email and before you know it, I'm back to saving the world one banged-up knee or challenging math problem at a time. [Mommy Problems]

Do you paint your nails? If so, what's your go to color? xo

  2. I'm with you! I've been using a Sally Hansen Diamond Shine base and topcoat under and over my color lately. It makes everything dry faster and last longer. It's about $3 actually gives my cheap color a chance to last more than just a few days. Colorwise, I'm obsessed with a dark plum shade I got for $1 at Sephora.

    1. Sheila - if you find anything at Sephora for $1, you have mad skillz. Thanks for the tip with the Sally Hansen Diamond Shine. Gotta give that a go! xo

  3. I also love the top coat from Essie called "Good to Go"
It's about $8, but I've been on the same bottle for over a year and it has gotten a TON of use.

You just paint 2 coats of ANY nail polish (I've even tried some that I have waited over 30min for and they STILL haven't been dry and this top coat worked!) and then go back over them with one coat of G2G in the same order and you will have perfect nails that have a shellac finish look, but they come off no prob with nail polish remover, and I've even had some colors last TWO WEEKS with this top coat!!! OH, and it's usually dry (like, you can touch it dry) after 2 minutes, 5 max. It's crazy. I can't brag on it enough.
