Weekly Challenge: Trying to Right Some of My Wrongs

Friday, October 29, 2010

Has someone ever told you they were going to do something and then they never followed through? A phone call. A date. An email.  I never noticed how much we tend to do that as Americans until some of my friends from Switzerland pointed it out. "Why do you guys do that?", they asked. "Can't you just be honest or say nothing at all?" Convicting!

I would very much like to say that I am a woman of my word. That I "let my "yes" be yes and my "no" no" as it states in Matthew 5:37 and James 5:12. But I too fall into that terrible trap. This week I have tried to make amends for some of those errors and the others I will do right here and now.

A couple of weeks ago I went to an open air market in Oak Cliff with one of my girlfriends. It was so fun to see all that was out there. The creativity and the uniqueness of each special item that was lovingly handmade. I promised some of the vendors that I would do a write-up about it and never got around to it.  I am so sorry about that and I hope that each of you can forgive me. Here were some of my favorites from the market:

Ornamental Things: Austin Artist with a keen eye for killer charms. (She had a whale charm that was awesomeness. Didn't see it in her shop! Stinker. Day late, dollar short.)

Karma Crochet: Crocheted lovelies so sweet that I wanted to buy one of everything!

Mountain Mama's Kitchen Co: Seriously, the best candles I have ever smelled! Sweater is my fave. Hands. Down.

Eleventy: Really? Not only do I love the name (it's how my oldest used to count) but their cards and clothing are to die for.

(combining two of my favorite things, birds and staches, is sure to be a home run!)

Revisionist Designs: This guy creates THE coolest bracelets out of old camera lenses. Ahhhh-some! (I know, I'm a little bias here because of my hub's profession - oh well.)

thin red line cuff (simplistic beauty)

I also need to give a shout out to my sweet stylist JP. He has done my hair for years and I adore him. I told him that I would facebook a promo for him and never did. Bad, bad friend. I hope he doesn't take it out on my hair! Please forgive me JP. xo He recently opened his own salon in Dallas. If you're in the area and need a new stylist, give him a call. He'll treat ya right. While we're on the subject of hair...thinking of cutting my hair like Scarjo above. Love it so much it hurts.

Lastly, Commenters. There are many of you who comment and Blogger doesn't give me an email address for you. (I try to reply to every person who leaves a comment.) Please know that I would like to personally say, "thank you" for all the loving and supportive comments made here. When I hear from you, it makes me smile so big. I love to hear what you all have to say. Many of you make me laugh real hard. Thanks!  One comment came from sweet Alli. She asked me a question in her comment and I never got back to her. I tried to find an email address. No luck. I intended on answering within the comment section and just didn't make it a priority. I finally contacted her this week and guess what... she lives one street over from me. CRAZY! How fun, right?  Keep those comments coming - they are so appreciated.

Have a Ghoulishly Delicious Weekend. We tend to eat our weight in candy corn. How about you? xo

    Loved this post.
I was just thinking the other day of all the small (seemingly insignificant -but not) things I say I am going to do but "forget" to do...or just don't. I need to really concentrate on what I DO say...or just keep my mouth shut!

    Love the hair!!!!
