Around the House: That 70's Vibe

Monday, January 13, 2014

Have you felt it? That subtle pull towards 70's decor? From wall hangings to southwest rugs and prints to cactus and hanging planters, it's all making a comeback. In fact, I'll just go ahead and say, it's back. I can't decide which was the driving force, the handmade movement or the minimalist/modernist movement or both. No matter how it got here, I'm smitten. I love all of it, and want to cram it all into our home, much to my husband's dismay. He would prefer a gentle nod to the 70's with a modern focus.

Are you feeling it? The brass. The warm woods. The pottery. If rustic undertones and antlers were THE trends for 2013, I think this is where we're headed for 2014. Ya dig? xo

  1. Love your inspiration pictures! I am definitely feeling it with the brass, wood tones and plants, but love that it is coming back in a much more modern and subtle way. My Mom and I were just laughing the other day about the sofa she bought in the 1970s. It was orange, brown and yellow print with the Liberty Bell and other patriotic stuff printed on the fabric. Now that would not translate to today (although it definitely made a statement!)

    1. Angela - i've seen that fabric in green at the thrift stores in curtains!!! kicking myself for not having purchased them. ha ha ha
Our couch was a red knubby fabric with wood trim! I loved that couch until I puked all over it when I had the flu! Sick! I think we got rid of it after that. ha!
