His and Hers: Plaid Shirts

Thursday, May 2, 2013

Today's His and Hers comes from the lovely Hannah of Cottonwood Road. I can't tell you how appropriate the plaid shirts are for this couple. They are country with a dash of soul and hipster thrown in the mix. They live close enough to the city to get things done, but their neighbors are cows. How cool is that?
To read about their adventures in newlywed bliss, be sure to check out their blogs Cottonwood Road and Art of Husbandry. I love the support they show each other and their passion for educating "young'ens" on the values of marriage and how to love one another well. So good.

How do you show your loved one respect and support? xo

His & Hers - Keys

Tuesday, April 2, 2013

Keys can truly be so telling... Him - minimalist who doesn't like things in his pockets. Her - stay at home mom that goes to the library a lot and carries a big bag where keys are lost in the abyss frequently (hence the lanyard and pom-pon).

Do your keys embarrass your husband to the point that he refuses to carry your keys - ever? xo

His & Hers - Backpacks

Tuesday, March 5, 2013

Hers - vintage Liz Claiborne circa late 80's, functional and pretty stinkin' rad. My Dad used to own three ladies shoe stores. I had the black and tan version. My sister had the one above. I can not tell you how elated I was to learn she still had hers. Gifted to me Christmas '12.

His - Lowepro camera bag for all his essentials, black and grey because to him, there are no other colors. He's a minimalist to the core. If he could get rid of that logo, he would.

Wanna play along? Show me your His and Hers. I'm hoping sweet Alli joins me again soon. xo

His & Hers: Toys

Monday, August 29, 2011

My husband is on a kick to get us healthy - juice style. Gotta love him for that (and so much more)! As for me, well, I am the beneficiary of a new Canon and waterproof case that lets me take amazing pictures even under water! Now if I can just get the hubs to download Lightroom on my computer so that I can share all my wonderful images with you guys.

While the juice is tasty (sometimes) and makes us much healthier, I think I got the better "toy!" Tee hee hee. xo

His & Hers

Monday, July 18, 2011

One look is all it takes to see who the photographer is in this house. Last weekend we went to a wedding in Austin (Congrats Gabby and Corbin!) and both of us took "portraits".

Some how, some way, my sweet husband is able to create magic in hotel rooms. I love it. Happy Monday! xo

His & Hers: Slurpees

Monday, July 11, 2011

Did you know that today is 7-Eleven's birthday?  Well it is...7/11/2011. Every year 7-Eleven celebrates this special day by giving free slurpees to all their customers!

Our picks... Coke mixed with Cherry. Yup... both of us.  Sometimes when you're married long enough you become one in a lot of areas!

His & Hers

Now go get yourself a free slurpee! xo

His & Hers: Summer Gear

Monday, June 27, 2011

It's HOT in Texas. When temps reach 100 almost everyday, there are only a few ways to cool down... movies, pool/lake, shopping. This past week, we swam four of the seven days. My fingers are still pruned. (Not really, but you get the picture.) Here's a look at our summer heat survival "gear."

 HIS
HERS

Today, Alli shared a His & Hers look at ice cream faves; another delightful way to beat the heat. Go take a look. Their road trip stop is adorable! xo

His & Hers: Chalk

Monday, June 13, 2011

Yes, chalkboards are everywhere in blogland. Yes, we have one huge chalk wall in our kitchen. Yes, I'm addicted to making chalkboards out of vintage clipboards. Yes, I'm getting my husband in on the fun. This weekend we both did a little chalk "art" of our own.

His & Hers: Hot Sauce

Monday, May 23, 2011

We like our food spicy at this house...well, the grown-ups do anyway.  The hubs has a very specific sauce that he uses on everything. I try not to be offended, as he tells me often that it has nothing to do with m cooking. Really? And me, well I just have my favorite salsa that I could eat by the spoon-full.

Sorry for the poor image quality, but this is important stuff that I thought I should share. ha ha ha. Happy Monday! xo

His & Hers: Mother's Day "Letters"

Monday, May 9, 2011

I had the best Mother's Day! My guys let me sleep in until 9:00 - awesome sauce. I was greeted with hugs, french press coffee and a chocolate eclair - YUM! I found this note on the kitchen chalkboard wall:

His

I thought it fitting to leave a note of my own before going off to spend the day with my Mom. So I made this sign and taped it to the back door for my guys to find upon returning home from Lowes:

Hope your weekend was as rockin' as mine! xo

His & Hers: Little Snapshots

Monday, April 11, 2011

When your husband is a photographer that has all the fun and cool gadgets and you have a point and shoot, he will out do you every time.

The hubs snapped a ton of pics while our little entertained his new best friend Herbert the caterpillar. We were told, "I love him. He's cute!" Well, I'm sorry to report...he loved him to death. R.I.P. Herbert!

This same little loves to look down drain holes too. I snapped the above pic while he was screaming. "ECHO!"

His & Hers: Sayings

Monday, April 4, 2011

We all have 'em.  Those silly little sayings that make us, well... us!

The hubs would like to bring back the word, "Zoinks!" Any Scooby Doo fans out there? As for me, it annoys my 18 year old nephew to no end that I say, "Oh, good gravy." All the time.
PS - I really say it the most when he's around just to annoy him! ha ha ha.

His & Hers: Grocery Shopping

Monday, March 28, 2011

Have you ever wondered why your husband is able to buy groceries in half the time that you are able to complete the task?  Well, I have solved the mystery - at least for us...

Do you see the difference?  I am officially convinced that my husband grabs the first item he sees that is on the list. I, on the other hand, look for the best deal, include coupons, and always consider aesthetics. I can assure you that he didn't give one bit of thought to that strawberry print on our paper towels, nor does it coincide with his design aesthetic.

If you're new to the blog, this little His & Hers series is something that Alli and I do on Mondays, giving readers a glimpse into our worlds at a very basic his and hers level.  Won't you play along? xo

His & Hers: Estate Sales - Pretty Practical

Monday, March 21, 2011

Almost every Monday you can find me and Alli of Hooray doing a little His & Hers peek into our lives. No rules. Just fun. We'd love for you to play along! Wouldn't it be cool if over 1000 bloggers were doing this? I know, lofty goal - but it would be fun.

Usually my husband is none too pleased with my spending hours at Estate Sales. I can't help it, I love looking at old houses and the thrill of the hunt. You just never know what you'll find. This past week I went "hunting" with my Mother-in-law. My score? A pretty hand-crafted Dolce and Gabbana inspired floral dress with sequins that fits to a tee! His score? A practical muscle massager thingy; he's been having back and leg problems. A little for me... A little for him... everyone's a winner! xo

His & Hers: Life Verses

Monday, February 28, 2011

Every Monday Alli (of Hooray) and I give you a little peek into our lives through His & Hers.  We'd love for you to play along!

It's said that a picture is worth a thousand words, but the following words are so life giving to me and the hubs... they transform our thinking and therefore the way we view everything else.

His & Hers: Coffee Cups

Monday, February 14, 2011

It's no secret. The hubs and I have a love affair with coffee.

Background info on the cups above...

His: The hubs and I became one in 2003. We were married in Des Moines, Iowa and the World's Pork Fair was going on at the same time! Romantic, right?

Hers: A dear friend gave the hubs and I Christmas coffee cups from Starbucks one year. Ever since it has been my favorite cup to drink from. I love the colors and the size - it holds LARGE amounts of coffee. Yum!

Do you have a favorite coffee cup? Are you playing along with me and Alli? Let us hear from you - we love knowing who you are and getting snippets into your world as well! Happy Valentine's lovers! xo

His & Hers: A Love Story

Monday, February 7, 2011

You know you're gonna get some sappy love stuff this week at Pure and Noble right? Well, let's kick things off with a Valentine's edition of His and Hers. These are the first Valentine card the hubs and I ever gave each other AND it's the first time he ever told me he loved me! Sighhh.

I've saved every Valentine card he's given me. (He's a man a few words. I gotta save what I get!) I'll give him this though...the man makes me laugh.  And... well... he's HOT!

Are you playing along with me and Alli? Show us whatcha got! We love knowing who's in this with us and what you're sharing. xo
