E is for Estate Sales

Our neighborhood is filled with homes from the 50's containing all sorts of lovely treasures and memories. To be honest, the neighborhood is filled with a ton of great stuff: people, trees, family, community, love. Riding around the other night I realized how awesome it is. But I'm getting a little off track. I dropped by an estate sale around the corner last week and found two items begging to come home with me. The abc pillow above and an amazing queen size quilt in the prettiest grey and blue.

The pillow now resides in our playroom. The quilt will go in the boys room. My only problem is that the quilt has a few age stains. Any suggestions/tips on how to get those pesky stains out? Out darn spot! Out! Not a bad pitstop in the midst of a busy day with the boys. Total dollars spent? $18.00. Thrifting feels so good.  Happy weekend dear readers! xo

  1. I've never been to an estate sale. I'm always a wee bit jealous when I see all the great stuff people blog about after going. Is it wrong to wish for one? Does that mean that someone has to die? I'll just be patient. :)

  3. Many quilters use Orvis Detergent. Typically available only at a quilt shop. Diluted vinegar is an option but test a bit first.
    Sweet finds!
