Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Thrifted Fabric

Wednesday, October 20, 2010

I got so many great responses to my post on Monday about my thrifted treasures, that I thought I would devote a whole post to thrifted fabric. In fact, I'm thinking that I may try to stop buying fabric from the "fabric stores" altogether and just shop thrift stores and garage sales. Above is more "fabric" that I scored this weekend. Question: When you think of fabric do you think off the bolt or do you think out of the box? Here's what I mean... in the image above, there isn't a single piece of "off the bolt" fabric. Instead, what you see is: 1 blue velvet curtain, 2 floral tablecloths, and 1 flat sheet. But take a pair of scissors to them and you can make whatever you want!

"wallpaper" uh-huh, that's fabric friends!

I think a 6 month trial is in order. Yup. I think I can do it. Strike that. I KNOW I can do it. Will you join me? Come on give it a go... it will be so fun and creative. Plus, everything's better when you do it with friends, right? What craft/project idea would you like to attempt with thrifted "fabric?" xo

  1. FYI, I've got a sack full of great fabric to give you if our guys ever set a date for us to get together. I'd love to finally meet you. ;) -Jennifer (Matt Slider's lady)
