Father's Day - A Giveaway

Friday, May 30, 2014

Giveaways aren't something I usually do, but Father's Day is coming up and I figure some of my sweet readers might be too busy wranglin' kiddos, now that school is out, to shop for that perfect gift. No need to worry. I've got ya covered. Think foot coverage - think socks. Fun, well made, conversation starting socks. My talented husband (and world's #1 Dad) has been working with the insanely hilarious guys over at Foot Cardigan. Recently, the hubs and I teamed up to show their subscribers the many ways their socks could be worn.
Necktie. Mittens. Beer koozies. Yes, the socks are that cool and we are giving 6 lucky followers a chance to win 2 pair each! I know - awesomesauce!
Here are the RULES for our Father's Day Sock Giveaway:

1 - check out Foot Cardigan's site (subscribe if you like - wink wink)
2 - Tell me how you'd wear Foot Cardigan socks in the comment section below.
3 - Be sure to follow me on Instagram and BLAMO! You're entered to win.

Just three simple steps. Pretty easy for a sock-tastic Father's Day gift.

All the socks that are to be given away were used in the shoot only - none have actually been worn. That would be gross. Special shout out to our guys at Foot Cardigan for donating the socks. You guys are the bestest. Giveaway will be closed June 5th. Winners will be announced June 6th so that we can get addresses and socks shipped/delivered before Father's Day on June 15th.

Good luck! xo

Around the House: New Year's Eve

Monday, December 30, 2013

The biggest party of the year is happening in just 2 short days. Are you ready? Since having littles, I haven't really figured out how to celebrate this night. Ok. I'll be honest... I haven't figured this thing out since I stopped partying my tail off like some crazy person and regretting half the night the next day. This year, my bestie and I are going to host an early shindig for the littles and I can't wait! I'm finally excited about this holiday again. I'm making just a few small decorations to keep things festive without losing my mind.

I found this tinsel at my favorite shop - The Dollar Tree - and I can't believe how much is in just one bag. It's like the long haired sister of glitter. Luckily she's a lot easier in the clean up department.
Let's pull up our big girl DIY undies and make some simple sparkle tassels. You with me?
Take a little out of your bag and line them up as seen below...
Once you have them neatly lined/piled up, take some twine and tie off into sections to create your sparkle tassels...
In between each twine tie-off, cut the tinsel with scissors.
Next, fold each section in half at the twine. Take a single piece of tinsel and wrap around the tassel just 1/4" below fold/twine and knot to secure. Last but not least, trim your tassels to have clean finish. (Use the trimmed off tinsel to make your own confetti!)
Once your tassels are complete, just string them onto a long twine piece and hang! Easy peasy. Not into bunting, garland or whatever it's called these days? No problemo. Add your tassels to helium balloon strings or party hats or serving spoons. These babies can glam up just about anything.

Want more ideas? How about a few of these...
 1 | 2 | 3
1 | 2 | 3
If I could pull off a party with a balloon countdown (hershey's kisses in the last one to be popped), handmade confetti, party hats, a year in review with a few goals list, cupcakes and ice cream with sparkles (ie sprinkles) I would be one happy Momma. Oh, and there's got to be glow sticks come nightfall, right? Here's to trying! Cheers. xo

PS - I'm pretty sure that my one rule for dress code should be that everyone must don a little sparkle - even my boys! Agreed?

Giveaway Winner

Friday, January 18, 2013

Hi Guys!  Please excuse the crickets around these parts. My oldest had the flu this week. He's finally back at school today, so I thought I'd drop in and announce the winner for our little giveaway.

Through random number generator, we have a lucky winner - Jess! Funny enough, Hannah and her Mom were the actual 4th and 5th commenters, but they can't win. Ha ha ha. Sweet Jess, if you'll send me your information via email [brookecfish@gmail.com] and we'll get your new scarf shipped to you right away.

If you didn't win, no worries. There will be more opportunities in the future for some cool stuff. Until Monday, happy weekend and make sure your littles are getting plenty of sleep and eating healthy. xo

Lost in Art: A Giveaway

Tuesday, January 15, 2013

As you know, I don't do many giveaways. I have to love the product, the person that makes it or both. Today's giveaway fits in the "both" category. Hannah of Lost in Art (wedding mentioned here, Dad mentioned here) is a dear family friend and very talented. And she super young, which kinda pisses me off, but I overlook it because she's just so dang adorable - and she's teaching me how to crochet. ha!

Hannah likes to dip her creative fingers in just about every medium. My favorites are her paintings, her crocheted scarves, coffee koozies and her cut-off jean freedom shorts (look for more of those closer to 4th of July). Today, we'll keep our focus on the crocheted scarves. Why? Because we're giving the featured green one away to one of you lucky readers. Why did I choose the scarf? Because I kinda have a thing for scarves. It may be because my neck is like that of a giraffe's or because if my neck isn't covered by a scarf in the Fall and Winter, I freeze my buns off. (Maybe that goes back to the long giraffe neck - hmm?)

All you have to do to win this lovely green neck koozie is go to Hannah's Lost in Art etsy shop and then tell me your favorite item in the comment box below! It's that simple. Good luck.

Hey Hannah, when you gonna sell some of your amazing paintings? xo

Weekly Challenge: Trusting in the Darkness & A Winner

Friday, December 24, 2010

What does the darkness bring for you? Fear? Worry? Anxiety? Yes, yes, and yes for me. I tend to often forget that even when I can't see or feel God, He is there - quietly working out all the details that I am fretting over. This week, I am choosing to live in the light - the light of Christ who promised me, "Never will I leave you. Never will I forsake you."

Saturday marks the annual celebration of God's Light coming into the world. Celebrate! For He has come and devoured the darkness! Holla! Sing Praise! Do a little dance! Get jiggy with it!  No matter how you celebrate, do it with all your might! There's no better reason to shake your grove thang! Merry Christmas sweet readers. xo

Oh, and who will be rockin' those Christmas sweaters next year? Drum roll please...........
Emma! via the the random number generator. Send your addy and I will get these lovely ensembles in the mail. xo

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Donations

Wednesday, November 17, 2010

'Tis the season to get more stuff. Right? More and more and more. Consume, consume, consume. That's what our culture would have us believe the holiday season is all about. Let's break the cycle and clear out our closets instead.

Shoe Boxes: Samaritan's Purse - I'm sure you have tons of these things in your home. I even have some stuffed with crayons. Samaritan's Purse asks that you take your old shoe boxes and fill them with goodies for kiddos. They show you how, give you a list of items to pack, and labels. This is such a cool and fun thing for the kiddos to do with you. My oldest had a blast picking everything out for "his boy" last year. You can even decorate the shoe box to take it to the next level. Fun. Fun. Fun.

Coats and Blankets: Nineteen. That is the shameful number of coats I have in my closet right now. I'm pretty sure I can't wear all of them this season, nor would I even want to. It's time to clear some of the coats out and keep others warm. There are so many folks that don't have shelter or warm clothing. Find a local organization that is collecting coats and blankets this holiday season and unload your bundles.

Canned Goods: Filling up a grocery bag never feels quite as good as it does when it's for those in need. Check your local charities for those doing food drives and clean out that pantry. Nothing available in the pantry? Make a trip to the grocery and fill up a couple of bags for others - you will be so glad you did.

This could possibly be the best Reduce, Reuse, Recycle post I've ever done. It feels so good to give, I don't know why I don't do it more often. Here's one more idea for you. If you have littles, have you ever thought about reducing the number of gifts they get over the holidays? We are starting a new tradition this year: 3 gifts each. The three wise men brought Jesus one gift each and so 3 gifts will be received by our boys along with the story of our Savior's birth. We've already begun prepping our oldest for this reduction!

How about you?  What's your favorite donation of the holiday season? xo

Rock the Vote!

Tuesday, November 9, 2010

Now that my Etsy shop is up and running, it's time to put the finishing touches on it. In order for my shop to truly be pure and noble, I want to give back. Pure and Noble wants to give 10% of it's proceeds to a worthy cause. And this is where you come in. Where should this 10% go? Below are 5 causes for you to chose from. Voting will open today and close end of day Friday. The cause that receives the most votes will be the recipient of 10% of my shop's proceeds.

Seed Effect - Such a super cool organization. Click the link to find out more about them. They rock.

World Vision (Sponsor a Child) Yes, this one requires a certain amount of sales, but should this amount go unmet, I will cover the remaining need.)

Living Water, Intl. - Water is a vital resource around the world. Unfortunately, not everyone has it available to them.

National Multiple Sclerosis Society - This one's a little personal. My Mom has had MS all my life and fights it with strength and courage daily. One of my Aunts is also affected, as well as my best friend from High School.
Habitat For Humanity - My husband and I spent one of the best weeks of our lives, with some college students from Villanova, down in the Mississippi Delta working on a house with Habitat. It was an  awesome experience.

How to make you vote count - simply comment to this post and tell me which cause you'd like to support. Here's to making a difference - no matter how small or how big. xo
